JBP strengthens its presence in Malaysia
The JBP team travelled to Malaysia to attend the Asia Water conference and used the event to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MATT, the Malaysian Trenchless Association. JBP will be working with the association to help them achieve one of their key objectives, which is to promote and provide training and education for the trenchless technologies sector throughout Malaysia.
Signed copies of the MoU were exchanged with MATT Chairman En. Faizal Othman, who was honoured to be accompanied by the Managing Director of Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK), Mr Narendran Maniam, and Tn. Haji Syed Adnan, Commissioner of Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) and other MATT Executive Committee members to witness the exchange.
The MATT Chairman also signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director General of IWK to support training, raise standards and develop technical skills and know-how in trenchless technologies.
The exchange of these two MoUs between IWK and MATT, and MATT and JBP, marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for trenchless technologies in Malaysia, and the start of a programme to support the current generation of engineers, technicians, decision makers and other professionals, and to educate the next generation.
JBP attended the Asia Water conference as an invited guest to present two papers during the MATT seminar on trenchless technologies. The first was on “Successful Sewer Pipe Rehabilitation using UV-CIPP Lining” which presented the first commercial rehabilitation of a sewer pipeline in Malaysia using the UVA CIPP method. JBP had the privilege of assisting local contractors in Malaysia just eight years ago and this was the longest application of UV-CIPP in Malaysia to date.
The second presentation was on “The Role of Training in the Trenchless Sector and its Link to Raising Standards”.
